Streaming Viewers Aren't Looking To Rebuild Pay TV

Providers of subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) shows signs of wanting to rebuild pay TV by bundling channels, raising fees and adding ad-supported tiers. However, they shouldn’t expect consumers to accept these changes, especially younger ones who prefer user-generated content, according to a report by consulting firm Deloitte.

“U.S. consumers may be willing to endure more ads and be corralled into bundles, but they may not be willing to give up the degree of customization they gained from unbundling pay TV, or the personalization they enjoy from social media,” the report said.
