CBS Launches MoneyWatch, Partners With LinkedIn

CBS MoneyWatchFollowing months of preparation, CBS Corp. on Tuesday launched its cross-platform financial information property, MoneyWatch.com.

An extension of CBS Interactive's business site BNet, MoneyWatch is being supported by new partnerships with LinkedIn, Morningstar, Mint.com, BillShrink and StockTwits, as well as with content providers including Reuters.com and Seeking Alpha.

Through these partnerships, MoneyWatch.com will import content, community, and financial tools, as well as export its own original editorial content around the Web.

Targeting professionals, the personal finance site is being featured throughout the CBS broadcast, radio and mobile platforms, while its editorial talent will be featured as regular contributors on CBS News shows, including "The CBS Early Show," and "CBS Evening News," along with local CBS TV and radio stations.

"MoneyWatch is going to be very much oriented toward one's long-term financial well-being," said Greg Mason, SVP and general manager of CBS Interactive's Business Network.

CBS is still discussing sponsorship opportunities with financial services brands, according to Mason -- one of whom is likely to sign on as an exclusive sponsor during the first three months of MoneyWatch's existence.

Serving as editor-at-large, Jill Schlesinger has been brought on as the MoneyWatch.com site resident adviser for several of the site's video series, including "Real People," "Behind the Curtain," and "Tip of the Week."

MoneyWatch.com core sections include "The Big Picture," which attempts to draw a connection between people's lives and the massive economic changes afoot; "Human Capital," which is based on the notion that a person's most valuable financial asset is their earning power; and "Cash Flow," which focuses on the everyday money decisions.
