Online Video Is Going To The Dogs

Literally. That’s what National Geographic’s Rob Covey said during OMMA Video’s “Curated World” panel.

He said one of the biggest hits NatGeo.com has gotten recently was its posting of a story about a “translucent-headed fish.” Granted, the underwater oddity got a pretty juicy plug from “The Colbert Report,” but he said other animal oddities like a story about a giant squid also did pretty well.

But the biggest sustainable form of new content lately, he said, is the sudden interest in content about dogs, such as, “The Dog Whisperer.”

“We’re cashing in on interest from dogs and pets,” he said.
