Mass Media Pick Up Complaints About Pampers Dry Max Diapers

Consumer complaints about rashes purportedly caused by Procter & Gamble's new Pampers Dry Max diapers are moving from social media into mainstream outlets such as Reuters, ABCNews.com and local newspapers and television stations around the country, Jack Neff reports.

Jodi Allen, P&G's vp-North American baby care, posted a response on a critical Facebook page that notes, among other things, that Dry Max diapers were tested on 20,000 babies and that it has assembled a team of "respected outside pediatricians and dermatologists" that reviewed data and did not find any reason to believe that the Dry Max product was causing rashes. That post was reportedly removed, but it's on a "I Love Pampers Dry Max" Facebook fan page started last week.

Meanwhile, P&G will announce today that it is expanding its "P&G: Proud Sponsor of Moms" Olympic campaign with new advertising and a contest to help pay for mother-and-child reunions, David Holthaus reports in the Cincinnati Enquirer. Four medal-winning Winter Olympians -- Julie Chu (hockey), Seth Wescott (snowboard cross), J.R. Celski (speed skating) and Paralympian Caitie Sarubbi (giant slalom, super combined skiing) -- and their moms will participate in the rollout of the "Thank You Moms Reunion" campaign at P&G headquarters.
