Android Devices Surpass iPhones

Thanks to devices like the Motorola Droid, smartphones powered by Google's Android operating system outsold iPhone models in the first quarter, according to new research from NPD Group. Android phones claimed 28% of the smartphone market compared to 21% for Apple, and were second only to BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion, with a 36% share. Keep in mind, Android spans many multiple handset makers and carriers.
