Wunderman Revamps Specialist Agencies Into 4 New Units

Daniel-Morel-AWunderman is reorganizing its nearly 24 specialist agencies into four new operating divisions and is adding a new regional North American presidency, the WPP digital and CRM agency network confirmed Friday. The firm said the reorganization was a bid to simplify its structure after a decade of growth through internal expansion and acquisitions. Its annual revenues now total $1 billion.

The four new operating divisions are: Brand Experience, Consumer Engagement, Data & Insights and World Health.

“Today, very few companies can derive as much insight to craft locally relevant communication that can be leveraged globally,” stated Wunderman Chairman and CEO Daniel Morel. “Now, we can more easily put the power of our collective agency expertise in branding, engagement, health care and data behind our clients' biggest marketing challenges.”

Sam Landers, who heads Designkitchen, has been promoted to president of the Wunderman Brand Experience division and joins the agency’s Executive Board.

Martin Conneen, the global client lead for Nokia, has been promoted to division COO. The division is focused on brand experience and customer acquisition over digital channels.

The Consumer Engagement division focuses on CRM efforts, including social, mobile, loyalty, traditional and eCRM. Morel will lead this operation until the search for a new president is completed, the agency said.

Gary Laben, CEO of Wunderman’s KBM Group will take on the added responsibility of running the new Data & Insights division. Becky Chidester is president of Wunderman World Health and joins the executive board.

The shop also appointed a new CMO, Gurval Caer, founder of Blast Radius, who adds the title of vice chairman and becomes a member of the executive board. CMO duties were previously handled by Trish Wheaton, who is shifting to a joint Y&R/Wunderman role focused on sustainability efforts. Stewart Pearson, Chief Client Officer, adds vice chairman to his title and becomes an executive board member.

Kass Sells has been promoted to president, Wunderman North America. He had been managing director of the shop’s Seattle office and he will continue to lead the Microsoft client team.

Wunderman is part of WPP’s Y&R Group, and has 7,000 staffers worldwide.
