Kitara Media Acquires Healthguru.com To Mix Tech With Content

Digital media and video ad technology company Kitara Media today announced it has acquired Healthguru.com. In a statement announcing the news, Kitara calls Health Guru Media's healthguru.com the number one online health video resource site for consumers, citing comScore.

A Kitara representative compared Kitara's model to Yume, Tremor and Brightroll's in that it focuses on indirect programmatic sales. In contrast, the rep said Health Guru focuses entirely on direct, non-programmatic sales.

“Combining Kitara Media’s technology platform with Health Guru Media’s direct sales and content expertise creates growth opportunity in an explosive video market," stated Robert Regular, CEO of Kitara. Heath Guru has a content marketing platform that will be integrated into Kitara's own video ad buying platform. 

The combination of Kitara and Health Guru, the companies claim, will make the 25th largest distributor of Web video advertisements, delivering nearly 500 million video ad impressions per month.
