Previous reports of the demise of nude women in print, including several posts in this blog, may have been a bit hasty. it turns out there is still plenty of interest in, demand for, and doubtless one-handed appreciation of naked or very scantily clad women in the pages of magazines.

In fact, in an ironic twist, this age-old tactic is being embraced by edgy, hip titles that one might have assumed had dispensed with female objectification.

In a veritable flurry of fetching flesh, Paper, Interview and Love are all featuring female celebrities in various states of undress on their covers or in photo spreads.

Paper magazine, which famously “broke the Internet” with nude photos of Kim Kardashian last year, is giving a similar level of, ahem, exposure to fellow celebrity-for-no-reason Paris Hilton. She is appearing mostly nude — with the exception of what appears to be a full-body apron, facing the wrong direction — in her photo spread for its “Fandemonium” issue.

Hilton also appears on the cover wearing a giant fur pompom. Why, you ask? Fashion!.

Also making the rounds is Kardashian offshoot Kylie Jenner, who appears on the cover of Interview (and in an accompanying photo spread) dressed as what some are calling a retro sex doll. Although I’m not sure there ever was such a thing -- sex dolls being, to my understanding, of relatively recent provenance -- if they did exist I imagine Jenner, clad in black vinyl, a copper breastplate and ghostly makeup, would probably fit the bill.

Did I mention she’s in a wheelchair? Why, you ask? See above.

The Jenners may be inescapable, but their clothes clearly are not.

Kylie’s sister Kendall Jenner gets naked in a photo shoot for Love magazine, a British independent title focused on fashion, style and culture. She also bares all in a matching “advent calendar” video for the magazine, which shows her taking a shower. Kendall also appeared in the 2014 advent calendar.

I feel secure saying I am not familiar with this type of advent calendar.

Oh, and Miley Cyrus got naked for Candy magazine in November.
