There's not much more I can say about Fox News Channel's $787.5 million libel suit settlement with Dominion Voting Systems that you haven't already read by now, so I figured I'd just put it into a simple eye chart for the media math wonks among us to put it in explicitly visual terms.

Dividing that settlement by the 744 lies about the 2020 election results Fox News Channel ran in the two-week period following the election -- according to a Media Matters analysis -- yields an average of about $1 million-per-lie.

Whether the settlement actually deters Fox News from broadcasting more lies in the future is anybody's guess, but mine is -- I guess not.

That said, the company's finance and legal departments -- as well as its shareholders -- at least have a baseline CPL to work from.
