Walmart+ Adds Limited -- Ad-Free -- Access To Pluto TV Content

Walmart+ has added access to a limited amount of content from Paramount’s Pluto TV, on an ad-free basis.

Consumers who sign up for the retailer’s paid subscription loyalty program can use its portal to create a free Pluto account that lets them view the first seasons of up to six TV series ad-free.

Pluto TV is, of course, normally free but ad-supported. It currently claims 78.5 million monthly active users across 37 global markets. Pluto apparently hopes Walmart+ members will get hooked on the network and sign up for its regular FAST network.

Walmart+ costs $12.95 per month or $98 annually. The Pluto TV offering is open to those on Walmart+’s free trial, as well as paid members.

The shows available through Walmart+ —  a selection of “classic” series ranging from “Gunsmoke” to ‘Beverly Hills 90210” — are picked by Walmart, which will change content at the beginning of each month.

Last summer, Walmart+ added access to Paramout+Essential, the ad-supported plan, as another no-additional-charge perk.

Walmart+ also offers six free months to SiriusXM radio.
