Fearing that the live telecast might trigger federal "equal time" campaign provisions, about 10 percent (23 stations) of NBC's affiliates were expected preempt the Dec. 6 episode of "Saturday Night
Live," which was hosted by Democratic presidential candidate Al Sharpton. All four NBC's affiliates in Iowa, where the first caucus will be held on Jan. 19, indicated they would not air the episode.
