For Some, The First Screen

Switching from the mobile titans to a panel featuring smaller, early mobile players (acquisition bait?), Jim Gregoire, vp, marketing at mobile social networking service MocoSpace emphasizes that the mobile Web isn't just cut and paste from the wired Web. "The mobile handset is the first screen for a lot of our customers," he said, referring to its young-skewing users. "The mobile handset is a very individualized and personal device, and it's fun and social."

As far as what sets MocoSpace apart from a mobile Facebook, he said its as much about people making new friends as keeping in touch with existing friends and family. er, isn't that what Facebook is for too?
