'Lost' Finds Sweet Spot, 'Dance' Places Second For Season

ABC's TV show LostABC has finished its season for "Lost" with much higher ratings than other shows on Thursday night. But as with many shows this season, it is down significantly versus its numbers last year. The "Lost" two-hour season-ender pegged the 4-year-old show to a Nielsen preliminary 4.9 rating/13 share among 18-49 viewers--down nearly a full rating point from last year's finale, or about 17%.

The show's nearest competitor on the night came from Fox's summer reality show "So You Think You Can Dance," which grabbed a solid 3.6/11. Good news for "Dance"--it was up a bit from its season debut the week before.

The third-place-rated show on the night is expected to be TNT's Los Angeles Lakers-San Antonio Spurs conference final game. Ratings were not available by press time.

CBS went with drama repeats and scored better-than-average results considering the competition--"CSI" had a 2.1/6 and "Without a Trace" also had a 2.1/6. "Trace" earned 8.4 million overall viewers, down 300,000 from "CSI" numbers.

NBC summer reality fare was about half that of Fox. "Last Comic Standing" took on a mild 1.8/5 for two hours in the unusual time slot of 8:30-10:30 p.m.

Adult 18-49 viewer averages for the night were: ABC, 4.0/11; Fox, 3.6/11; CBS, 1.9/6; NBC, 1.7/5; Univision, 1.5/4; and CW, 0.6/2.
