Ad agency Dentsu, Recruit Holdings, and their joint venture Blogwatcher have inked a deal with Qualcomm Labs to license Gimbal. Los Angeles-based Kahn Media was this week named public relations AOR for the Petersen Automotive Museum. Kahn Media specializes in PR and social media marketing. "One of our goals as we approach our 20th anniversary in 2014 is to develop long term strategies to expand the museum's outreach and create innovative experiences that are engaging for enthusiasts and non enthusiasts alike," stated Terry Karges, executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. Los Angeles online advertising company SocialVibe last week announced a partnership with AnchorFree, a secure web browsing app. "We are very pleased to announce our partnership with AnchorFree," stated Chris Rooke, senior vice president of business development at SocialVibe. According to the Los Angeles Times, CNN is planning to launch CNN Latino, a Spanish-language TV programming service. The program is expected to launch in late January in Los Angeles on independent station KBEH-DT Channel 63 before expanding to other cities. Read the whole story »

Robert Landau's new book, "Rock 'N' Roll Billboard of the Sunset Strip," takes readers through the history of billboard art in Los Angeles. According to NPR, Landau "has an extensive record of LA from the 1960s onward" through pictures he took of Los Angeles billboards while growing up. "I've always thought that LA had a very unique look. It's really built around people driving in their cars," Landau told NPR. "And so the billboards, like a lot of the signage and architecture, are really meant to be seen from people's cars." Read the whole story »
