UK-based online video platform provider Rightster on Tuesday announced Rightster Studios, the company's new financing arm for original online programming.

According to Streaming Media, Rightster Studios will offer financing and strategy advice to improve distribution, marketing and monetization for new programs, beginning this summer. The operation will initially be based in London with a view towards expanding to New York, Singapore and Los Angeles.

The risk involved in creating new online programming and the lack of financial backing creates a bottleneck in developing online content, says Charlie Muirhead, Rightster's founder and CEO, which stops new talent from finding the right audience. Rightster Studios will work with creators of all sizes, from independent producers to large news organizations.
