Online music video joint venture Vevo launched a stand-alone service in Brazil Tuesday. The popular music video site offers stand-alone services in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Australia and New
Zealand. Also launching today are free Vevo apps for smartphones and the iPad, for Brazilian users.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the launch will bring 50,000
high-definition music videos from international and local stars to the Brazilian market. Among the videos from local stars are ones from Paula Fernandes, Daniela Mercury, Ivete
Sangalo and NX Zero.
Vevo is a joint venture of Sony Corp.'s Sony Music Entertainment, Vivendi's Universal Music Group and Abu Dhabi Media. EMI has also licensed content to the
group.
