Dressing rooms are the one advantage brick and mortar apparel stores have over ecommerce. With Amazon likely to pass Macy’s in U.S. apparel sales in two years, the latter is trying
gadgets like tablets to upgrade fitting rooms. At its Manhattan Beach, Calif. store, shoppers who see a style on shelves or mannequins that looks interesting, they use a Macy’s app to select
their sizes. The items are delivered to a fitting room through a chute.
