McClatchy's Mote Promoted To Publisher, VP Strategic Advertising

Ryan Mote, currently vice president of strategic advertising for The Sacramento Bee and McClatchy’s Western region, has been named the new publisher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and vice president of strategic advertising of McClatchy’s Central region.

Currently, Mote is responsible for a sales territory covering 10 media companies in California, Washington and Idaho. In his new position, Mote will manage strategic advertising for The Kansas City StarThe Wichita Eagle and The Belleville News-Democrat.

Mote will take on his new role November 5, replacing Sean Burke.

Mote has been with McClatchy for the past four years, but has a publishing career that extends nearly two decades. During his career, he has held positions at Freedom Communications, Gannett, The New York Times Co. and Copley Press.

Separately, Conde Nast has appointed Katy Olson the new editor of AD ProArchitectural Digest’s digital publication for design professionals. She begins with the publication October 10.

Olson joins Conde Nast following a tenure as executive editor at Business of Home, where she leads the brand’s website and is a contributor to its quarterly print edition. She has also worked at Hearst, People.com and Work Style, a design magazine based in Milan. 

In her new role, Olsen will be responsible for expanding the brand's coverage of the design industry. AD Pro launched in 2017 and Conde Nast has recently been investing heavily in the outlet.
