'Black Enterprise' Names Justin Barton VP, Digital Strategy And Partnerships

Justin Barton joins Black Enterprisefrom his role as head of digital strategy and analytics at Group SJR.

The publicationhas tapped Barton to lead audience growth, product, social and partnerships as its new vice president of digital strategy and partnerships.

Barton brings over 13 years of experience in media and digital publishing to the business and financial outlet. In his role, Barton will use his experience with analytically driven strategies to grow and engage audiences and identify emerging platforms for content distribution.

Prior to working with SJR, Barton was vice president of audience development at iHeartMedia. During his time there, he oversaw the growth of the platform’s digital audience across 858 station websites and syndicated properties.

At Viacom where he led editorial growth and insights across MTV News, VH1 and Logo’s New Now Next site, Barton also served as senior director of digital research.

"Black Enterprise magazine is a historic, mission-driven publication, helping to enlighten and educate the African American community on business,” Barton stated. “I look forward to creating strategies to introduce the brand to new audiences on the various platforms where they consume content." 

Barton’s appointment comes at a time when Black Enterprise is poised to expand its digital brand, grow its events offerings and engage more deeply with advertisers.

Under Barton’s leadership, Black Enterprise looks to extend the reach of its written and video content and connect with partner sites. 

Black Enterprise, published since 1970, reaches 4 million readers a month through its magazine, covering entrepreneurship, careers and financial management. It also producess television programming, business and lifestyle events and digital media.
