The New York Times has renamed
its Digital Transition department to Newsroom Development and Support, promoting Charo Henriquez to head the team.
In her new role, Henriquez, who has worked at The Times for nearly
three years, will lead her team to deepen its collaboration with the Products teams, develop new embedded training approaches and expand newsroom support efforts.
Henriquez has been a key
player in the development of new systems and technologies during her time with the company, working across rollouts of editing restructuring and the introduction of Oak, a visual-first content
management system used by the newsroom and Opinion section.
She has also collaborated with Newsroom Product and the Engagement mission teams to sharpen newsroom tools later introduced to
Times’ journalists.
Henriquez brings experience across digital journalism, product, workflow and systems.
Prior to joining
The Times, Henriquez served as digital
executive editor at
People en Espanol and as a business reporter at GFR Media in Puerto Rico, where she also led digital transformation efforts and product introduction as its innovation
editor.
