Harvey Parson has been named general manager of The Monroe Journal and Itawamba County Times, Mississippi weeklies. 

Previously, Parson was managing editor of Mississippi Today. He also has served as East Valley city editor for Arizona Republic/Phoenix Gazette, as senior night editor for the Atlanta Journal Constitution/Cox Media Group and copy desk senior editor for the Cox Media Group in Dayton, Ohio.Parson, who grew up in this part of Mississippi, hopes to make the print titles something that readers “want to keep and pull out different parts to put on the refrigerator.”
