The Pittsburgh-Post Gazette is on strike, meaning its print edition is not being delivered. Readers were informed early on Thursday that they would not get their
papers.
The Communication Workers of America, which represents production workers such as mailers and typographers, has walked out over a dispute about higher
insurance premiums, and has been joined by the Temasters and Pressmen, according to Next.
The strikers say the owners refused to pay the new expense, but
the paper counters that strikers were offered a raise to offset their higher costs.
Block Communications, which owns the PG, said it “will continue to
publish seven days a week,” the report adds.
The Newspaper Guild of
Pittsburgh has said it will start withholding bylines out of solidarity, but reporters will continue to produce
content.
