The New Yorker is relaunching its politics podcast, “The Political Scene,” with  new programming and hosts.  

Available three times a week, the podcast is focused on issues of national concern. 

In a new weekly offering on Fridays, the staff writers Susan B. Glasser, Jane Mayer, and Evan Osnos will weigh in on major political stories, providing an insider’s take. 

This trio has since June provided morning-after analysis of the House Select Committee investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“I’m delighted that Susan, Jane, and Evan will be joining the show as hosts of a new roundtable discussion, and that Tyler will be hosting our weekly political interview,” states David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker. “Together, they’ll help our listeners make sense of the U.S. political landscape and more at this moment for American democracy.” 

On Wednesdays, Senior Editor Tyler Foggatt will cover a significant political story with in-depth interviews with New Yorker staff writers and outside experts. Foggatt is taking over the weekly interview from Dorothy Wickenden, who stepped down from as executive editor and host of the podcast earlier this year.  

The podcast will continue to feature a weekly segment drawn from “The New Yorker Radio Hour,” the national radio program and podcast hosted by Remnick.

And the feature known as "Politics and More" will become “The Political Scene,” featuring new artwork, music, and sound design. New episodes will hit every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

A podcasting pioneer, The New Yorker débuted its political podcast in 2007, during the primary season leading up to the 2008 election.
