American Journalism Project Bestows $3.2 Million In Grants

The American Journalism Project has awarded $3.2 million in grants to three local nonprofit news organizations.

Enlace Latino NC, the state’s first Spanish language nonprofit newsroom, has been awarded $1 million. It will build a revenue and operations team to support the newsroom ambitious growth plans. 

The Fort Worth Report, which has been granted $1.1 million, will build out its business team and the infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainability to support its community-driven journalism. 

The Nebraska Journalism Trust, which delivers investigative journalism through its flagship publication the Flatwater Free Press, has been awardsed $1.1 million. It will grow its team and pilot several affiliated newsrooms that will serve small communities and neighborhoods.

This round of funding marks more than $40 million committed to local news organizations since 2019.
