Only one day after announcing the promotion
of Johanna Mayer-Jones to its first chief advertising officer, The Washington Post has revealed the person to whom Mayer-Jones will report. It has appointed Alex MacCallum as chief
revenue officer, effective July 31.
MacCallum will be responsible for driving revenue across advertising, partnerships and
subscriptions.
Previously, MacCallum created new platforms and business models within CNN worldwide, the New York Times and The Huffington Post. As global head of
product at CNN Worldwide and general manager of CNN+, a streaming platform, MacCallum led product, data, design, marketing and business operations that resulted in the launch of a new CNN+, in less
than one year. At The New York Times, MacCallum oversaw development of the Cooking and Games products.
