Wick Communications To Acquire 'Arizona Daily Sun' From Lee Enterprises

Wick Communications, a firm that owns 21 newspaper titles throughout the West, is acquiring Arizona Daily Sun, a publication based in Flagstaff, from Lee Enterprises, Inc., Daily Sun reports.

Arizona-based Wick says this will strengthen its holdings in the state.

Daily Sun Publisher Colleen Brady will continue in that role, and all of the paper’s employees have been offered jobs with Wick Communications.

“We are very excited about joining the Wick Communications team,” Brady says. “This will give us the ability to continue to invest in more local news for our readers and offer media solutions to our advertisers."

Wicks is active in 10 Western states.

Founded in 1993 as Arizona Champion in Peach Springs, the title was moved to Flagstaff in 1891. Its name was changed to the Arizona Daily Sun in 1946.

Lee Enterprises acquired the Sun from Pulitzer in 2005. Pulitzer had bought it from Scripps League Newspapers in 1996.
