Forget pumpkin spice—at least for a day. National Taco Day, (a holiday I fully support, because, well, TACOS!) is Oct. 4, with several chains offering promos for the taco fanatic in many of us.
Taco Bell has turned National Taco Day into a month of taco goodness with the return of the Taco Lover’s Pass. The pass, originally launched for a limited time in January, entitles the owner to one taco per day for 30 days. This time the $10 pass is only available on Oct. 4 via the Taco Bell app. The brand is also promoting the day via social through “Taco T@g.” A Taco Day commemorative video will post on the brand’s various international social accounts with a call to action to tag a friend. Those tagged will receive a notice of a taco deal, prompting the game of tag to continue.
Perhaps the most amusing of the Taco Day promotions is from Chuy’s. Guests who arrive at the restaurant on Oct. 4dressed as a taco (see example above) and post a photo on social media using #ChuysTacoDay will receive a free dine-in entrée of their choice. The chain is also offering $1 tacos as an add-on to any entrée.
Southern California native Chronic Tacos will offer a buy-one-get-one-free taco all day Oct. 4, available only through the Chronic Tacos mobile app.
Velvet Taco recently announced the winner of its second annual guest taco recipe contest, The Welly Welly, a take on a classic Beef Wellington. The new taco, which contains a Dijon glazed filet, a mixture of mushrooms, onions, and shallots, crispy prosciutto ham, red wine demi and thyme puff pastry in a flour tortilla, is available Oct. 4-10. The chain will also offer chances for customers to win taco party packs and margaritas via Instagram.
Del Taco has also optioned to turn the day into a month-long event with “Tacoberfest,” offering a new daily special along with free delivery via the “Del Yeah!” rewards app.
Dallas-based fast casual chain On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is offering guest specials on tacos and beer on Taco Day. Customers can pair a $2 classic or $4 premium taco with $3 bottled beer at participating locations. The chain will also offer 15% off catering orders of $150 or more when booked between Oct. 2-8.
Fuzzy's Taco Shop is giving away two free tacos to all Fuzzy’s rewards members. All of the chain’s guests can also purchase $1.50 tacos the entire day.
Even 7-Eleven is getting in on the tacomania by giving its rewards members 10 mini tacos for $2.
And The California Tortilla brand is giving away a free taco coupon with any in-store purchase. Guests can redeem their free taco coupon from October 5-11.
Meanwhile, Taco Del Mar is offering customers $10 off any purchase of $20 or more.
