'Aspen Times' Sued Over Firing Of Editor: Report

The Aspen (Colorado) Times has been hit with a wrongful termination suit by Andrew Travers, a former editor-in-chief who says he was terminated after little more than a day for running columns the management disliked.

Travers alleges that he was fired by the Times when West Virginia-based owner Ogden Newspapers objected to columns he ran regarding Vladislav Doronin, Aspen Daily News reports.

Ogden had suspended coverage of Doronin after Dorinin filed defamation over previous coverage, Travers alleges, according to Aspen Daily News

But Travers, who asserts he was promised total editorial freedom, ran opinion pieces by columnist Roger Marolt.

The plaintiff seeks reinstatement and financial damages.

The suit was filed Tuesday in Pitkin County District Court.
