Gannett has hired Monica R. Richardson as senior vice president in charge of the USA Today newsroom.
Richardson will be tasked with
supporting USA Today’s five pillars: sports, money, entertainment, life and news. The goal is to develop a diversified content monetization strategy built on a growing
audience.
Previously, Richardson served as vice president of local news and large markets for McClatchy. She has received two Pulitzer
prizes.
Richardson’s "action-oriented management style combined with her passion for our industry will give fresh life and new reach to our iconic portfolio
of news and information brands," says chief content officer Kristin Roberts, to whom Richardson will report.
