Matt Murray, former editor in chief
of The Wall Street Journal, has signed on with New Items, a newsletter that claims to cover “a world in disarray.”
Murray will write a new newsletter
titled 'Matt Murray’s Week in Review' that will recap the major financial and business news of the week on Fridays.
“We are fortunate and delighted to have
Matt join us as a contributing editor. His resume speaks for itself.
“Matt will be doing a Friday newsletter that will sometimes follow the News Items format and
other times be commentary on a particular topic,” says John Ellis, founder and editor of News Items. “We’re hoping he’ll do some podcasting as
well.”
Ellis comments that is “not an exaggeration to say that he is one of the best journalists of his generation,” said
Murray was
EIC of the Journal and Dow Jones Newswires from 2018 to 2023. Prior to that, he served as national editor, deputy managing editor and deputy editor in chief. He joined Dow Jones in 1994 as a
reporter in the Pittsburgh bureau.
