The Daily Gazette, of Schenectady, New York, is in talks to sell its building to the Capital District Transportation Authority, the Gazette reports.
The decision to consider a sale is driven, in part, by the relocation of the paper's printing operations to Springfield, Mass. In addition, only around 40
employees are now in the building on a given day following the pandemic, compared to a total staff of 115 people.
The negotiations could lead
to Gazette employees still being allowed to work there.
A sale reportedly would allow the Gazette to better focus on providing
quality local journalism, the paper says.
The 108,000-square-foot building on Maxon Road Extension was built in 1988.
