Fortune Media is reaching out to the next generation of business leaders with an editorial-driven program called Fortune Next to Lead.

Designed for future leaders at Fortune 500 companies, the new franchise will include a weekly newsletter, titled Fortune Next to Lead, and a new power list, Fortune Next to Lead 50, recognizing upcoming business stars. 

The first newsletter appeared on Monday. The Fortune Next to Lead 50 list will be published in fall 2024. 

Serving as editor in chief of Fortune Next to Lead is Ruth Umoh, who will oversee both the list and newsletter. 

“Ruth will expand Fortune’s unrivaled access to the world’s most powerful CEOs to also reach future leaders,” says Alyson Shontell, editor in chief and chief content office of Fortune. “Fortune Next to Lead will arm the next generation with the skills, insights, and networks needed to prepare them for top jobs and lead in a way that benefits all stakeholders.”  

The newsletter, featuring interviews with top business leaders, researchers, and career development consultants, is being launched in partnership with West Monroe, a global business and technology consulting firm that seeks to build the “skillsets our people need to challenge the status quo and drive value through technology," says Casey Foss, chief commercial officer at West Monroe. 

Umoh comments, “Future leaders of the Fortune 500 will have to handle unprecedented challenges and a rapidly evolving corporate landscape. They'll also have to develop new skills and competencies that give their companies a competitive edge. Fortune Next to Lead will spotlight leaders who prioritize both profitability and purpose and who show signs they’ll soon be ready to run Fortune 500 companies.”
