Mano Sundaresan has been named head of editorial
content for Pitchfork, a provider of music-related news and analysis owned by Condé Nast.
“From my first discussion with Mano, he made it clear that there is a huge
opportunity to combine the longstanding institutional authority of Pitchfork with the creator-first language of internet music culture today,” says Will Welch, global editorial director of GQ
and Pitchfork, to whom Sundaresan will report.
Welch adds that “we will use the many platforms at our disposal, from columns to podcasting to social video, to prioritize powerful
individual voices who can bring audiences inside the shows, scenes, and subcultures that matter.”
Sundaresan arrives No Bells, an internet music and reviews site he founded in 2021 to
focus on under-covered scenes. Prior to that, he worked at NPR.
I’m excited to adapt Pitchfork to a more decentralized music media ecosystem, one where institutional power is so often in
the hands of singular voices that cut through the noise,” Sundaresans says.
