Shirley Halperin Resigns As EIC Of 'Los Angeles Magazine': Report

Shirley Halperin has stepped down from her post as editor-in-chief of Los Angeles Magazine, effective on Friday of this week. 

The circumstances were unclear, but The Wrap writes that there were complaints that the magazine failed to pay overdue bills to freelancers and vendors. 

The magazine expects to name a new editor in chief in two weeks. 

Shirley Halperin started as EIC in June 2023. She had served as executive editor of music at Variety..

Los Angeles Magazine was acquired by attorneys Mark Geragos, and Ben Meiselas, in 2022. The Wrap reports that the price was $6 million. 

Gialanella issued this statement to The Wrap: “We are proud that Los Angeles Magazine will have a profitable year in a challenging media environment and circulation is way up. We will be announcing our new Editor-In-Chief in the next two weeks.”
