Gannett and Southern Florida unions have reached a tentative labor agreement.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with The Palm Beach Post, The Palm Beach Daily News, The Naples Daily News and The News-Press,” says Amy Garrard, Vice President, Labor Relations, Gannett. “Our priority is to continue serving these communities with relevant local content and essential journalism.”
The agreement must still be ratified by members of the Guilds, which together represent around 60 journalists, according to the Palm Beach and Southwest Florida News Guilds.
The two-year contract includes guaranteed raises for every member in each newsroom, a freeze in healthcare premiums and a lock in existing 401(k) matches for members, along with other benefits,” the Guilds report.
“This deal is an important first step towards protecting local journalism by making our newsrooms better, more equitable places to work,” says Kati Kokal Palm Beach News Guild co-chair.
The two guilds are part of the Communications Workers of American Local 3108 and The NewsGuild-CWA.
