Bala Sundaramoorthy has been named as president and chief operating officer of The Times Publishing Co., publisher of the Tampa Bay Times, replacing retiring president Joe DeLuca, effective October 1.  

Previously, Sundaramoorthy was general manager of The Atlanta Journal Constitution and an executive of Cox Enterprises. 

Sundaramoorthy is “committed to delivering products that engage our readers in innovative ways,” says Conan Gallaty, chairman and chief executive officer of the Times. 

DeLuca, who joined the Times in 2001, oversaw the company’s acquisition of the Tampa Tribune and as publisher and led the shift of the paper into a digitally focused news operation.
