Union workers at Law360, a publication owned by LexisNexis, have warned that they will go on strike in September unless several contract issues are resolved.
The Law360 Union is comprised of roughly 260 workers.
Their contract with LexisNexis expired on December 31, 2022 and negotiations have been going on since before that, according to NewsGuild of New York, which represents Law360 Union.
The union has filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board, accusing the firm of making unilateral changes to healthcare plans and mid-contract layoffs.
In addition, Law360 laid off 10% of its union newsroom staff in 2023, hours after LexisNexis announced record profits for the year, the union charges. This violated an obligation to maintain the status quo of the expired contract, it adds.
The publication is also trying to scrap aspects of that contract, including guaranteed wage increases, while weakening job security protections for union workers, the union continues.
