The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is consolidating its journalistic degree programs.
The school is merging its two journalism majors
— broadcast and digital journalism and magazine, news and digital journalism — into one bachelor of science program, effective in the fall of 2025.
The Newhouse School
will not accept applicants to the old programs after the fall 2024 admissions cycle. However, students enrolled in the old programs will not be affected.
“By creating this new degree
framework, we’re better positioning our students for success, not only what they’re doing in the building, but positioning them for success in the way it’s perceived by others
outside of the building,” says Newhouse Dean Mark Lodato.
