Hearst Magazines, has named Willa Bennett
as editor in chief of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen, effective September 16.
Bennett, who started her journalistic career as an intern
at Seventeen, most recently served as the editor in chief of Highsnobiety.
She succeeds Jessica Giles, editor of the titles for six years, one of several
editorial roles she has held during her tenure at Hearst. Giles is leaving the company.
Highsnobiety enjoyed significant growth in advertising and e-commerce revenue
under Bennett’s leadership, Hearst says.
Earlier, Bennett oversaw the social team and strategy at GQ Magazine.
“Willa’s
innovative vision and keen editorial instinct will play a crucial role in the evolution of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen,” says Ronak Patel, general manager of Hearst
Magazines’ Lifestyle Group, to whom Bennett will report. “Her talent for engaging new audiences through cultural insights, influence, insightful journalism, interactive experiences and
community-building is a perfect fit for our strategy.”
