Rick Brooks Named As Standards Editor By 'Business Insider'

Business Insider has appointed Rick Brooks as its standards editor.

Previously, Brooks served in that role at The Wall Street Journal, where he reviewed sensitive stories, videos, graphics “and everything else that might need a thoughtful eye,” writes Jamie Heller, editor in chief of Business Insider, to whom Brooks will report.

Heller worked with Brooks at the Wall Street Journal, where he was a “go-to source of advice for me for years,” Heller writes.

Standards editors are also being named elsewhere.

For instance, The Washington Post announced that Wall Street Journal veteran Karen Pensiero has been named standards editor, a new masthead position, effective in January. Pensiero will boost “how we source and report, how we navigate tough stories and how we seek to cultivate fairness and balance in our work,” writes Matt Murray, executive editor of the Post.
