Jeff Bezos has been sent a letter by 400 Washington Post employees asking for a meeting.
They are concerned about the future of the Post and its current management, and have asked owner Bezos to respond to the situation, David Folkenflik writes on NPR.
“We are deeply alarmed by recent leadership decisions that have led readers to question the integrity of this institution, broken with a tradition of transparency and prompted some of our most distinguished colleagues to leave, with more departures imminent,” says the letter signed by prominent reporters and editors.
While no executive was named, the letter appears to take a swipe at Will Lewis, CEO and president.
Just this week, columnist Jennifer Rubin resigned to start her own publication, The Contrarian.
The Post staff claims that tens of thousands of subscribers dropped out after the Post declined to endorse a presidential candidate, and that it has lost 300,000 overall.
Folkenflik writes, “A clear vision to secure the Post's financial future remains elusive.”
