Jodi Rudoren To Serve As Newsletter Chief At 'The New York Times'

The New York Times has named Jodi Rudoren as editorial director of Newsletters.

Rudoren is returning to the Times after departing in 2019 to lead the newsroom at The Forward. Rudoren covered the metro and education beats as a reporter during her prior 20 years at the Times, and served as Chicago bureau chief, Jerusalem bureau chief and associate managing editor.

In her new role, Rudoren will “oversee our portfolio of dozens of newsletters that together reach many millions of people every day,” Joe Kahn and Sam Dolnick write. This includes The Morning, which has more than five million daily readers, and DealBook.

In addition, Rudoren will “partner with the desks, along with just about every department in the newsroom and the Product organization, to sharpen and elevate our wide portfolio of newsletters,” Kahn and Dolnick continue.

Rudoren will report to Dolnick.
