An Axel Springer board member has resigned, accusing the firm’s U.S. publication Politico of “one-sided Hamas support.”
“Regarding Politico, I find their news coverage not aligned with my own ethical standards,” Martín Varsavsky of Argentina wrote on X, according to the New York Post. “USA has changed, Germany has changed, hopefully so will Politico.”
Varsavsky has served on the Axel Springer board since 2014.
His charge against Politico was made after it published an Associated Press story on Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, the Post continues,
Varsavsky, who says he is a friend of Elon Musk, has also contended that journalists at Axel Springer are “woke.”
In addition to Politico, Axel Springer owns Bild, Business Insider, Welt, Morning Brew, Dyn Media, EMarketer and the joint venture Ringier Axel Springer Poland.
