AP Allowed Into A White House Event, But Dispute Over Access Continues

The back-and-forth over White House access and Associated Press got confusing on Tuesday.

AP said its reporters were stopped from attending the Oval Office event on Monday involving President Trump and President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador, despite a federal court’s order to not exclude AP.

However, an AP reporter and two photographers were allowed into a White House event honoring the Navy Midshipmen football team on Tuesday for the first time since the flap began, The Washington Post reports.

AP sued in February when the White House blocked its reporters from events over AP’s refusal to use the name “Gulf of America,” instead of the traditional Gulf of Mexico.

U.S. District Judge Trevor N. McFadden suspended the ban temporarily, but the sides are due back in court later this week.
