Jolie Schaffzin has been appointed publisher of
Playbill magazine, the first woman to hold the title.
Schaffzin joined Playbill as director of fashion and beauty advertising 27 years ago, and was later promoted to
associate publisher. Previously, she served in sales roles at Condé Nast and Hearst.
The new publisher is an “extraordinary professional and has earned our admiration and
unabashed love,” says Philip S. Birsh. Chairman and CEO of Playbill. “She will be an especially impactful leader of our newer generation of Playbill personnel.”
Schaffzin's
promotion arrives as Playbill celebrates its 140th anniversary.
The magazine is known for its custom issues that are handed out as programs at concerts and theatrical events. Paid
subscriptions are also available.
