A class action lawsuit accusing Dotdash Meredith of sharing consumers’ video activity with Facebook without consent was voluntarily withdrawn on Wednesday.
The plaintiff, Abby Casper, agreed to dismiss all claims without prejudice.
Casper filed the suit, alleging that her video-watching and personally identifiable information were shared with Facebook “through its use of the Facebook tracking pixel and similar technologies.”
The plaintiff had subscribed to newsletters from Dotdash Meredith’s Entertainment Weekly since 2017 and viewed several videos on its website, the complaint stated.
Among other things, the technology allows advertisers to build custom audiences, it continued.
It was not clear at deadline why the case was withdrawn. Casper had asked that the court grant class status to the lawsuit.
