Gannett has deployed Taboola’s Deeper Dive, a
generative AI answer engine.
The tool answers questions with instant responses and provides additional context and stories from the publisher site, using AI-powered
content tailored for the users, Gannett notes.
Gannett contends that DeeperDive is a counter to generative AI-powered search engines that scrape content without
permission and fail to offer fair compensation in return. ‘
“Implementing Taboola’s DeeperDive Gen AI answer engine on our own platform is an exciting win for our business
and the publishing industry at large. This innovation will lead to deeper engagement with consumers as we continue to expand our audience,” said Michael Reed, chairman and chief executive
officer, Gannett | USA TODAY Network.

Gannett is the first U.S. publication to launch the DeeperDive beta. It will reach approximately 1% of USA Today’s more than 195 million monthly
unique visitors.
According to Gannett, DeeperDive provides:
- Smarter, more diverse answers for readers based on Taboola’s AI and real-time insights from over 600
million daily active users across a global network of 9,000 publisher partners
- Increased readership and engagement for publishers
- High-intent ad revenue
across high-intent categories
“Today marks a major step forward for the open web,” said Adam Singolda, CEO and founder, Taboola. “With DeeperDive, we’re
giving publishers the power to join the Gen AI revolution on their own terms — creating richer, more trusted experiences for users, and unlocking search-like monetization opportunities that were
previously out of reach.”
