New York’s rollicking
tabloid, the New York Post, is expanding to California.
The Post, which was founded by Alexander Hamilton, will launch The
California Post in Los Angeles early next year. It will consist of a daily print edition and a dedicated homepage.
The sister publication of the more staid Wall Street
Journal, the Post will maintain its usual conservative outlook.
“Los Angeles and California surely need a daily dose of The Post as an antidote to the
jaundiced, jaded journalism that has sadly proliferated,” says Robert Thomson, CEO of News Corp., parent company of the Post.
Thomson adds, “We are at a pivotal
moment for the city and the state, and there is no doubt that The Post will play a crucial role in engaging and enlightening readers, who are starved of serious reporting and puckish wit.”

Nick Papps, who was based in LA as West Coast correspondent for News Corp. Australia, will serve as editor in chief. Keith Poole, editor in chief of the Post, will maintain an oversight
role.
The future California edition is now seeking reporters, editors and audience development professionals, particularly in the LA area.
Will the New York
wise guy style exemplified in the Post play on the West Coast?
“This is the next manifestation of our national brand,” Poole says. ”California is the
most populous state in the country, and is the epicenter of entertainment, the AI revolution and advanced manufacturing — not to mention a sports powerhouse. Yet many stories are not being told,
and many viewpoints are not being represented.”
