
Chris Fusco has been named executive editor of
The Sacramento Bee and regional editor of McClatchy Media’s other California newsrooms, The Sacramento Bee reports.
Fusco will oversee the Sacramento Bee along with The Fresno Bee, The Modesto Bee, Merced Sun-Star and The Tribune of San Luis Obispo, The Sacramento
Bee reports.
In his previous role, Fusco served as executive editor of the Press Democrat News Group in Santa Rosa. Prior to that, he
was managing editor at the Houston Chronicle and founding executive editor of Lookout Local, a digital news startup in Santa Cruz. He also worked at the Chicago
Sun-Times for 20 years, eventually becoming editor in chief.

Fusco “loves local news, sees the opportunity to build on our strong foundation and embraces the extraordinary
opportunity to make a difference at the Bee and our other California newsrooms,” said Greg Farmer, executive vice president of local news at McClatchy, in a note to the
staff.
“This is an exciting time to join McClatchy’s California team, especially given the company’s commitment to top-notch statehouse, public
service and watchdog journalism, not to mention our state’s leading position on the world’s economic and political stages,” Fusco comments.
