The Wall Street Journal has
decided to have two deputy editors in chief as it seeks to advance its newsroom strategy.
Aja Whitaker-Moore and David Crow have been named to the title, wrote Emma
Tucker, editor in chief, in a memo to the staff.
Whitaker-Moore joins from Axios, where she served as editor in chief in charge of national, local and pro newsrooms.
Whitaker-Moore joined Axios in 2020 as managing editor, and prior to that was editor in chief of fixed income for the Acuris Group and deputy editor in chief at Debtwire.
Crow is
the Journal’s current executive editor.
“Together, David and Aja will be critical partners to me in all aspects of our newsgathering
operations,” Tucker adds. “David will oversee news and manage stories across all coverage areas, while Aja will focus on digital operations, talent development and
the integration of AI throughout the newsroom.”

In addition, Dan Colarusso has been named new coverage chief for business, finance and economics. Previously, he was senior vice
president of business news, overseeing CNBC’s Business Day, and before that was executive editor of digital at Reuters.
Whitaker-Moore and Colarusso will start on December 15.
